In our first two issues, the Macalester Street Journal has showcased excellent academic research in the fields of politics and economics. This past semester, the Macalester Street Journal has seen exciting expansions, with the addition of a new geography section. Geography holds importance both in our world and in the social sciences: it situates the often theoretical fields of politics and economics in real landscapes. Furthermore, we have established a dedicated geography section and welcomed new members to the editorial review board, as well as several new first-year students. These areas of growth are what led us to select the title “Convergence,” signifying the integration of new people and new topics into the making of this volume. As we begin the second volume of the Macalester Street Journal, we aim to continue reaching new horizons and bringing fresh perspectives into the realm of academic publishing.
