Abstract
Aid, especially Official Development Assistance (ODA), remains a lifeline for growth and poverty alleviation in developing countries. However, there is a trend in rising ODA and the variance between pledged and actual aid delivered. Therefore, there is a need for an analysis of ODA's effective use, particularly in critical sectors such as agriculture that underpin the economies and livelihoods in the developing world. This study assesses ODA's impact on the cocoa industry as an economic pillar and a significant export for many developing countries. Ghana shall serve as a case study, given its substantial dependence on the cocoa industry.
