Abstract

The United States and Mexico currently present themselves as nations who are unwavering allies on the international stage. This relationship–close as it may seem–however, hides a complex truth regarding the inner workings of both governments’ policy towards each other. That is that the U.S - Mexico relationship has, is, and will continue to be defined through neglect and  neocolonial power dynamics. As such, while the results of the upcoming 2024 presidential elections in both nations may lead to many changes foreign and domestically, my analysis anticipates that U.S-Mexico relations will remain the same.
